Softball Full Workout Sheets and Videos

One consequence of operating an athletic-development blog is that we can only provide bits and pieces of skill and training content, which we rely on the reader to follow and assemble on their own. A topic this week, a drill or exercise next week, you get the idea. If we get enough of a following and positive feedback (hint hint) maybe we will invest in collecting our ideas into one project such as a DVD or online course. For now, I hope you are following along and when things get confusing, I hope you will send us your questions or post a comment!

This week I want to show you examples of full softball workouts. If you’ve been following the blog, you will see the principles, components and many of the exercises I’ve demonstrated previously. I know you won’t understand everything on the sheets, and I don’t expect you to copy them. However, they should begin to reveal how I order training components into individual workouts.

Every athlete I work with follows an individualized workout program, but by “individualized” I DO NOT mean “entirely different”. Between two athletes of a similar age, programs may only differ by a few critical exercises or exercise adjustments. For the most part, every athlete’s program consists of a few key ingredients:

I hope athletes (maybe with the help of their parents) can use these examples and directions to begin to construct their own program. I will continue to provide more exercises for both at-home and gym workouts in the future. The sheets above are also very similar to what I deliver to online strength and conditioning clients. The exercises on the sheet are hyperlinked to video demonstrations that you can view as often as you’d like from a computer or phone. If you are interested in having me design and direct your off-season training, please send an email to joe@fastpitchpower.com.
